The Siege; A true life story

The Siege Episode 1:

Poverty is a disease. Many dreams were shattered and most potentials are left unfulfilled. Is either you get rich or die trying. I will kindly take you through my life experience and after the whole story, I will ask you two questions that seems to be left unanswered for years. Take your time, sit back and relax as we all learn about life in a new dimension.

I am lekan but am best known as Robkell. I have a very good friend from my secondary sku days. His name is Sodiq but everyone calls him Kein.

Kein and I lived in the neighborhood and that has helped our friendship. We were like twin brother. We lived with our mum as both of us are from polygamous home.

Kein: guy how far? Robkell: I dey. Kein: how this year go be again? Are we gonna miss out on admission again? Robkell: what can we do bro? Our mum can't afford the tuition fee. We ourselves aren't working. Our dad ain't helping. So are we gonna steal? Kein: damn it boy. Sick of life. Rubbish! Can't we do something. I can't miss out this year after 3 years of sitting at home. I got admitted thrice but no money to pursue it. Gush. Robkell: what do we do? But we won't give up. We gotta apply and see if there's gonna be miracle. Kein: maybe. Gotta go home. Robkell: aight.

Both departed.... Kein: hello mum Mum: kaabo Kein: kilo wa nle Mum: omo ko si nkan kan Kein: I left in the morning without eating and tonight again no food. Osu mi. Mum: all is well.

Episode :2

Kein decided to whatsapp Robkell.. Kein: wetin dey ur side cos am seriously hungry. Robkell: I was about calling u also for same purpose. Kein: nawa. I tire Robkell: same here. We go survive.... I believe. Robkell: oh! That's Felicia. Just like a sister to me. She needed help. Kein: which kind help u fit render abi u dey craze ni. Robkell: ah ha! She told me to help her with tutorial on mathematics for the upcoming jamb. Kein: that's cool. So ur reply? Robkell: I told her I don't it will be possible. Kein: oh boy! O stupid. U are helping her. Robkell: you know we don't have time. Kein: forget.. I get one plan. Robkell: what? Kein: u will help her and later ask her out. Robkell; I can't. She respects me a lot. Kein: oponu. Respect ko. You don forget her father work for airport. Her mother Na banker. Oga patapata. She will help us. See mumu. Robkell: but how? Kein: that gal is still young and naive. She's 18 and u are 24. She can't withstand our scope. Moreover am sure she doesn't have a bf yet. We will use her to get what we want. Wise up. Robkell: what I'd she refuses... Kein: den kill me Shebi Na me. Abi o ti gbagbe ni..... Robkell: okay ooo but am scared. Kein: gbagbe jor. Do as I say.

Robkell later told Felicia to come for tutorial every evening. They started well.... Felicia is a slow learner. Robkell always use all his energy... Felicia really appreciates Robkell effort.

Till one day something happened.

Episode 3:

Following day Felicia came with food as usual. They had tutorials and Robkell decided to tell her. Robkell: I want to talk to you. Felicia: likewise myself. Robkell: eh hen! What's that? Felicia: imagine one stupid guy in your street asking a small gal like me to date him.. Robkell heart pounded heavily. Robken: who be DAT? Felicia: his name Na Lamide ooo. Imagine! What nonsense. Robkell: no mind them jare. Felicia: so what's that u want to discuss with me? Robkell: just wanna tell you to study harder because jamb is fast approaching... Felicia: thanks sir. Eat your food. Robkell: I will pour it in a plate. I want to eat it later in the evening. Felicia: OK sir.

Robkell poured it out and Felicia washed and packed. Later she went home. Not quite long Kein also came in.. Kein: abeg wey our food cos am madly hungry.. Robkell: cool now.. Kein: pls bring am out.. No time. Robkell: Na in be dis. Kein: dis food sweet ooo. Come we never pray self. Robkell: see ur life. Poverty don kill u. Kein: poverty kill ur papa.

They finish eating and Kein asked about the parole again. Kein: so how far this time? Robkell: omo ko le possible. She told me of a guy who asked her out. Kein: sooooo! Robkell: she lambasted the guy. I wouldn't want to be ridiculed. Kein: u be mumu. Do something Jor. Nothing dey happen. Ask of her bf and from there something else will come up. Robkell: hmmmmm! Okay oooo.

This time Robkell decided to take his chance. Felicia came as usual with food and book. They ended the tutorial and Robkell started.

Robkell was scared to open up but instead he tried to perambulate. Robkell: saw a lady dressed like you last night. Felicia: where and when? Robkell: with a guy along beyioku paraga joint. Felicia: last night? Not me and moreover paraga joint... Never! I was indoor all night. Robkell: I tot it was u. I was kinda sad and jealous. Felicia: haba! You don't trust me. Am just the only child and my parents wouldn't allow me to go out late. Robkell: okay! Felicia: u said u were jealous? Why? Robkell: eeemmmm! Eeeemmmmm!! Felicia cuts in.. Felicia: that reminds me, won't your gf be angry with the way I use up your time? Hope you always create time for her? Robkell a bit excited.. Robkell: no. Not at all. Gf ke........ I don't have any. Felicia: OK... That's good.

Robkell was left dumbfounded cos he thought he would get a better reply. He decided to open up and be a man. Robkell: Felicia I like you. You are a good girl. Very nice to me. I appreciate you. Felicia: I like u also. U treat me like a sister. I really wish you are my brother, I could have being a genius. Thanks for everything. I will make you my aunty. Robkell: oh! Thank God. I can do anything for you because you are a queen. Felicia: am blushing. Robkell: how I wish? Felicia: wish what oooo brother? Robkell: but it is not possible my dear. Poor guy won't date rich girl. Felicia: are u hiding something from me?

Robkell decided to cook up a story.. Robkell: I have a lady I really love but I don't think she will ever accept my proposal. Felicia: never say that. Why don't you try. Money ain't everything.

Robkell: you wouldn't understand. Felicia: u aren't a kid. Tell her and if she says no, move on. Robkell: I don't want to destroy our friendship or make her feel am taking chances. Felicia: we all meet by chance. So we must also take it.

Felicia left and Robkell tried to follow her. Felicia: pls go back. Robkell: chai! Kein Koba mi tan.

Kein came in after 30 minutes. Kein: wey food? Robkell: pls shut up. O to Koba mi now. Kein: o stupid. O sick. How? Robkell: that girl vex.. Kein: how? Wetin u talk? Robkell: same tin but she said she is disappointed in me. Kein: see you. U expect yes immediately. That's ladies for you. Text her tonight. Forget. Robkell: are u sure? Kein: yes. Bring food pls.

They ate and Robkell texted at night, in the morning.......

Robkell tried everything possible to reconcile with Felicia but all were futile. He decided to approach her directly. Kein: how far? Robkell: I won't listen to you again. You messed me up gan. That gal no come or pick my call. Kein: use text now. Robkell: I did but she didn't reply any. Kein: let's approach her directly. She's always alone at home because her parents go to work. Let's try today. Robkell: I also gave it a tot. Maybe it will work.

They agreed to go later in the day. They set out for daily hustle when they bumped into Felicia on the road. Kein: oya! Go after her. Robkell: Felicia! Why now? U stopped coming for lesson. I said am sorry. Felicia: I can't trust u anymore. Robkell: trust me just once. Pls don't stay away. Let's complete the tutorial. Remember everything in life is either yes or no. Felicia: I just felt I needed to stay away. Robkell: pls don't. I won't ask you out anymore. Felicia: okay. I will resume today. Robkell: thanks.

Felicia resumed back and they started. Robkell did all his best to help her out but never asked for anything else. Felicia: am sorry for how I handled that situation. Robkell: am sorry I let you down. Felicia: you are a nice man and I felt I can only get better with you in my life. You have really improved me. Robkell: thank God for everything. Felicia: do you mean you don't have any girl? Robkell: nope Felicia: can I trust you with my heart? Robkell: jamb is next week. Maybe this isn't the right time for this. Felicia: just say yes.. Robkell: emmmmm! Emmmmm! But we are different. Felicia: just say yes. Robkell: we are like family now. Felicia: u are the best I ever met. Just say yes. Robkell: yes....

Felicia left and Robkell picked his fone to tell kein. Robkell: ogbeni she finally don gree. Kein: ehn Ehn! Congrats oooooo. A beg she bring food. Robkell: idiot u be. Goodbye.

Kein came in shortly after the call.. Kein: ore o pay wa. Robkell: abi u no see.

Episode 6:

Just a day to jamb exam and all candidates prepared harder. Kein: guy we are still short of the required target. Robkell: God go do am. But after jamb and post jamb, if we get admitted, how do we get money to sort ourselves out. Kein: life is a step. Let's write the exam first. Robkell: okay oooo.

They wrote the exam and all passed including Felicia. Felicia: thanks dear.. I appreciate ur effort. I had 62 in maths. My final score is 225. Robkell: happy for you. I scored 276. Felicia: what about your friend? Robkell: 288. Na book oooooo. Felicia: u guys are just wonderful. Am happy I have you in my life... Robkell: let's thank God. Moreover post jamb is fast approaching. Hardwork still continue. Don't relax yet. We must enter that ife this year. Felicia: sure. My mum already told me the admin officer will help me out. Maybe I will also submit u guys slip too. Robkell: oh! Thanks.

Kein visited Robkell.. Kein: omo we still need 98000. The money in the safe can roughly cater for one person. Robkell: ehn ehn! God go help us. Kein: my mum said her pension should be paid this week. So we are expecting alert. Robkell: obe niyen. I know this is our year. Kein: like 80% of that money will go for bills we owe. Ma fi okan si oooo. Robkell: una owe gbese ni? Kein: idiot! U no know how many years we take wait. Robkell: bad government. God help Nigeria. Kein: Amen oooo.

They also wrote post jamb in few weeks and they all passed. All awaiting admission list. Felicia helped as promised and at last the list was released.

Felicia was admitted into chemistry dept, Robkell to industrial mathematics and Kein got statistics. They called each other to share the news. They all rejoiced. Robkell: Kein now we got admission, what next? Kein: tell Felicia you won't process it. Robkell: why? Kein: no money. Robkell: will that bring anything out? Kein: of course I believe. Call her now. Robkell dialed her number...... Felicia: hello baby! Robkell: am not fine. Felicia: what's the problem? Robkell: mum said I won't pursue that admission because she can't afford it. So am not processing it. Felicia: never! I won't allow that happened to you. We worked hard for this. Robkell: funny you. Where you go see money abi we go rob bank. Felicia: hmmmmmmmmmmmm! I have a plan. My mum paid all my tuition fees into my act, I will give it to you and tell her I was robbed in school. Robkell: ah! That's too expensive and could backfire. Felicia: I owe my parents. I know how to present it. Just take my offer. My parents will make another money available. See you later. Robkell: tanx dear. I love you.

Episode: 7

Robkell: o boy e work Oo. Kein: call me bad Kein. I told you opolo wa. Robkell: u bad indeed but this girl is nice. Kein: gbagbe. Chop as fast as possible because very soon she go dump u for her class. Get the money and let's process our admission. Robkell: am loving her already. Kein: this is a game. Don't love up. Pls do not love oooo.

Kein mum got paid at last, she gave Kein 55000. Kein waited till Felicia made money available for Robkell. They processed their admission and secured a house very far from school.

Felicia decided to inform her parents about the planned story....

Episode 8:

Schooling without parental help wasn't easy at all. Robkell and Kein had a very torrid moment. Several times they cook soup without meat or fish thanks to the water leaf that grow everywhere. Water leaf was their hope of making soup for EBA. It wasn't easy at all. Robkell mum wasn't helping matter as she only give robkell 3000 for the whole session including tuition. However Felicia was helpful. She provided assorted meat and fish almost every month.

Kein and Robkell were so diligent and never played with studies. Robkell also helped motivate Felicia. They all live like family on campus. Lectures were time consuming and assignments were many. Felicia once again to the rescue with her laptop and modem used for research. No wonder their first year was wonderful as Robkell started with first class (4.60) and Kein had first class as well (4.77). It was the highest cgpa in their department as the poor guys became celebrities. Felicia managed a second class upper (4.32) thanks to Robkell motivation and help.

Kein: I bless Allah for this wonderful first year. Robkell: am so excited even my girl did well. Kein: my mum has helped me a lot. Always getting loan for me. Robkell: Felicia Na my own Savior. Kein: I don't like how ppl embarrass my mum. She has been thru bullshit for my sake. Imagine she had to go beg my foolish uncle to raise my second year tuition. Robkell: it was Felicia uncle in UK that send mine. It was meant for her bday party. I was surprised when she handed all to me. I couldn't believe it.

Episode 9:

Felicia visited Robkell over the weekend. She decided to tell him about the guy in civil engineering disturbing her... Felicia: Westland is disturbing me. Am just fed up. Robkell: who's Westland? Felicia: a guy in civil engineering. Robkell: kilo da yin po? Felicia: o fe feyawo ni... Robkell: since when was that? Felicia: this Monday.. He's been all over me. Don't know what to do? Robkell: all over you bi ti bawo? Felicia: he drives g-wagon about. Always following me up. But I don't trip for such... Robkell: the ball is in your court. Felicia: of course am not dumb... I will never fall for that. Is you I loved. Lemme make soup for you guys.. Where's Kein? Robkell: he went to library. Felicia am scared.. Felicia: why dear? Robkell: this akin of a guy. He also own a car. Imagine... Felicia: I am not bothered about that. Even if it is aeroplane. Are you doubting me? Robkell: just that am scared. I don't want to lose you. Felicia: same here.. You are my world. Nothing will shake us and I promise you anything to make you happy. Robkell: thanks dear.

Felicia left after a while and Kein comes in.. Robkell: guy e don happen Kein: wet in Robkell: one guy name akin dey disturb my gal.. Kein: who be akin? Robkell: Felicia came here and narrated everything to me. Kein: really.. Gist me Robkell: the guy dey use g-wagon self. Kein: forget Felicia, she's gone. Robkell: she promised to stay.. Kein: abeg spare me. You better let's eat her dry before she flies. Robkell: she vowed to stay with me no matter what. Kein: sometimes I feel like smashing you. Those are empty words. Reason like a man for once. Haba! No love in the game of player... Okay! Robkell: yes boss... Kein: abeg na EBA I dey eat ooo. This soup is really good mere looking at it. God bless our maga. Robkell: that girl Na real housewife ooo. Kein: only if are of same class. But the difference is clear. Our mission is looting and nothing else. No love in the game. Robkell: Na so bro. Kein: its time u collect that laptop from her. We will need it now. Robkell: lemme try. Kein: better.

Robkell called Felicia.. Robkell: I want to work on your laptop Felicia: OK. No problem. Am thinking I should give you. My uncle promised me another one this month. U can have this... Robkell: you are just wonderful... I love you. Felicia: one more thing, I gave akin your number. Should incase he calls... That guy wouldn't just get it once that I ain't interested. Robkell: okay...

Akin called and discovered it was a male that answered. He decided to let go. Felicia kept on surprising Robkell. She used so many dubious antics with her parents and uncle to extract money just to finance Robkell. She carried Robkell till his final year.

Final year, something terrible happened..

Kein and Robkell made it through into the final year. They were in the most delicate moment of their life. Kein still maintained his cgpa but only Robkell was having a very big problem to handle. She tried and I think am convinced she loves you. Just that I wouldn't trust her. You know all this olowo pikin. Robkell: she deserves the best from me even if we don't eventually marry. Imagine that akin issus. She handled it with plain mind. Kein: am also impressed but are u sure she has ended any form of conversation with that guy? Robkell: very sure. Kein: let's wait and see cos am confused. I tink u have a 50/50 chance. Robkell: okay. Am off to campus.

Robkell worked extra ordinary to ensure he graduated with first class. While carrying on his daily activities in school, he had a problem with a lecturer. Robkell: I just discovered my CA wasn't recorded. Felicia: did u miss the test? Robkell: why will I? At this junction. Kein: erekere niyen. Do something faster. Robkell: sure...7 unit course. Never Felicia: go see the lecturer in charge. Robkell: sure I will. Kein: who be that lecturer self? Robkell: Dr Jegele Kein; haaaa! Saddist. Pele ooooo.

Mr Jegele is known for failing finalists especially those who refuses to dance to his tune. What does he want from Robkell?

Robkell went to his office but he wasn't there. He kept on loitering around there. He tried for five days before meeting him. Dr Jegele, a short man with big pot belly. Call him Mr without Dr and you will hear curses raining on u. Robkell prostrated.. Sir I am olalekan, offering your course, Electrolysis. Jegele: and so. Should I start jumping? Robkell: my ca wasn't recorded sir. Jegele: u missed the test niyen. Robkell: haaaa! 7 units. Never. Jegele: so am lying? Robkell: no sir... Jegele: am busy. Get out and come back on Monday. Robkell: okay Sir.

Robkell left and returned on Monday. Ko ko ko... Voice: come in. Robkell: is me sir. Dr: o lekan abi? Robkell: yea sir. Dr: have your seat. Robkell: I'll stand sir. Dr: okay. Who's Felicia Adeleke? Robkell shocked.... Emmm emmm my friend. Dr: why lying? Robkell: my girlfriend sir. Dr: I have been after that girl since her first year on campus. I never knew it was a pauper like u dating her. Robkell: sir! Dr: shut up! Ur destiny is in your hands. Robkell: how sir? Dr: just a night with her and I assure u 80% in that course. Roblell: Haa! Any other solution? Dr: just the only solution. Robkell ran to Felicia hostel and he explained everything to her. Felicia: that man is useless. I will report him to professor Phur. Robkell: won't it backfire? Felicia: noooooo.

Felicia went to Professor Phur office following and they discussed. Felicia: can u imagine sir? Phur: too bad but is all ur fault.

Felicia: how Sir? Phur: look at how you are dressed? Exposing your chest. Not fair enough and moreover a fi oju she a tu fi gbo gbo e she. Ani ki ama toju e. Felicia: sir am just like ur daughter. Felicia went to Robkell, Felicia: am highly disappointed in prof. Robkell: how? Is it money issue. Felicia: it would have been better but he also asked for me. Robkell: prof of all people. Felicia: maybe I should inform dad Robkell: it won't work cos no evidence. Felicia: I heard he's among the panel for my project too. Robkell: haaaaa! I won't allow u to do it?

Kein tried everything but to no avail. Robkell now has a day left to save his gp. Kein never supported Felicia sleeping with Dr. Robkell can't take that too. Kein: o su mi oooo. Robkell: every effort wasted. Felicia: e pain me too. Help ain't coming. Robkell: God is wicked. Kein: shut ur mouth. Let's think. Any other lecturer? Felicia: none wanted to be involved in it. Kein: sug.... Felicia: has been suspended till next year and the union dissolved temporarily. Kein: o ga. Opolo ji now. Ma sun. Felicia: lekan dear, (with a crying voice) lemme do it for you. Lemme save ur gp. U worked hard for this. I put u into it. Lemme sleep with him if that's the price for my real love. Robkell: what!!!

Felicia finally gave in to Dr Jegele desire to save her bf career.

Kein n Robkell waited for her at home. Kein: this girl truly loves you. I guess I was wrong all this while. Robkell: I told u she's special. I love her. Kein: this has to be a secret bro. I am really amazed how far she proved this. Robkell: I pray nothing bad happens. Kein: amen.

Felicia finally came back. She couldn't stop crying.

Dr. Jegele finally left Ife for good. Another lecturer took over and Robkell CA issue wasn't rectified. The only favor the lecturer could offer was to give him 10 marks cos he thought Robkell is the unserious type on campus. Robkell could only managed to get 55 overall. He dropped from first class to second class upper.

Project palava started in the final year second semester as everyone resumed back after a week break. Felicia later discovered she was pregnant. What a shame! Her parents must not be aware of of this. She called Robkell... Felicia: wahala to sele ooo. Robkell: kilode? Felicia: am pregnant. Robkell: what! Felicia: am so down. Robkell: where are you? Felicia: still in the clinic Robkell: come over Felicia: okay.

Robkell: Kein abi u no see gone Kein: wet in Robkell: that girl is pregnant. Kein: haaaa! For you? Robkell: nope Kein: don't tell me jegele Robkell: I doubt it. Something is fishing...

Robkell: I never rejected her just DAT I won't accept bastard. Kein: u are a wicked friend and am beginning to hate u. Without her u are nobody. U are a shit. Robkell; without God bro. Kein; shut ur mouth. Ingrate... I don't blame you. I blamed her going through this shit. Robkell: which side are u? Kein: I don't support idiots. U are a typical idiot. Suit yourself but a day of reckoning will surely come.
