Fela was impressed when I did bad things, wanted me to become an ‘area boy’ – Femi Kuti

Legendary afrobeat icon, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti, has disclosed that his father, the late Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti, wanted him to become an ‘area boy’ and forfeit his education for music.



According to him, his father wanted him out of school to prove to people that one must not acquire formal education to be successful in life.

The ‘Day by day’ crooner told the Net: “My father didn’t want me to study music because I was more of an experimental guinea pig to prove a point that you do not need education to be successful and he wanted to use me to prove to his brothers that the education he got was not what made him.

 “Back then if I got back from school and said I got ZERO in Mathematics, he’ll say that’s very good. “I used to be among the bad boys in school that’ll jump the fence to go and watch Chinese movies at the cinema and if we get caught and my father hears about it, he’ll say ‘very good.
 “My father wanted me to be the head of the ‘most baddest boys’ in school (laughs).

Oh! This forum is meant for all the single peeps out there!!! Do you want or like when your friends try to set you up with their other single friends? I certainly do not. It's happened to me a number of times within the past two years. My sister tried to pair me up with her co-worker's niece. TITLE:                LIFE ON THE LINE                   CHAPTER ONE . (THE DAWN). Life in the campus was nothing but one with mixed feelings. The good days were there for me to lean on at my leisure, while the bad ones left sore in my throats. Was is the threat of choice and freedom from the gangs who classified themselves as the alpha and omega of us all, or the illegal and unlawful impositions from the lecturers and most annoying hike in our tuitions by the school authorities... there were many of such to remember for years to come. Although,those mixed acts were not unexpected as my father did foretold me of their comings, but some of them were beyond my handling. As days went by, months kept running like the wheel of a moving train, years were burnt out like candle wax and all things, excluding my unexpected, went as nature planned them.
