The Lagos State House of Assembly at the weekend limited the 2015 appropriation for 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state to N59.287 billion in the fiscal year.

The assembly, however, lamented the huge overhead expenditures of the LGAs and LCDAs, which it reported, were bloated to the detriment of their capital expenditures indicating dangerous signals for the development of grassroots.

This was contained in a seven-page report of the assembly’s ad-hoc committee on the 2015 Appropriation for LGAs/LCDAs, which came up with three cogent findings on the spending and administration of local councils in the state.
